The System Sensor 4W-B i3 Series Smoke Detector is a conventional four-wire photoelectric smoke detector designed for compatible commercial and residential fire alarm systems. Its advanced optical sensing chamber and onboard microprocessor provide reliable smoke detection while helping reduce nuisance alarms caused by dust and other environmental conditions.
The 4W-B operates on nominal 12V or 24V power and includes an alarm relay rated at 0.5A at 30V AC/DC. This model is a photoelectric smoke detector only and does not include a heat sensor or built-in audible sounder.
Easy Installation
The plug-in design allows installers to pre-wire the included mounting base before attaching the detector head. A large wire-entry port and in-line terminals with SEMS screws provide additional room for routing and securing field wiring.
System Sensor’s Stop-Drop ’N Lock design helps guide and secure the detector head onto the base. The included base can mount to several common electrical back boxes or directly to a ceiling using suitable fasteners.
Intelligent Smoke Detection
Drift compensation automatically adjusts for the gradual accumulation of dust and other contaminants in the sensing chamber. Smoothing algorithms help filter short-term environmental conditions that could otherwise cause unwanted alarms.
The detector’s removable cover and sensing chamber simplify inspection and cleaning. A built-in test switch and compatibility with the System Sensor SENS-RDR sensitivity reader help technicians test and maintain the detector.
Instant Visual Inspection
Wide-angle red and green LEDs provide a clear local indication of detector status. The LEDs communicate conditions such as power-up, normal standby, out-of-sensitivity and alarm, allowing technicians to inspect the detector without removing it from the ceiling.

The System Sensor 4W-B is intended for connection to a listed, compatible fire alarm control panel that supports conventional four-wire smoke detectors and resettable 12V or 24V detector power. This detector is not a standalone smoke alarm and does not include an internal audible notification appliance.
Four-wire detector installations may require listed end-of-line power-supervision equipment. Compatibility, wiring, detector placement and supervision requirements must be verified with the fire alarm control panel documentation and applicable NFPA, electrical-code and Authority Having Jurisdiction requirements.
